FRENCH: English Program is an optional French course for students grades 4 to 12 within the English program along with other courses.

French is a course designed for all children enrolled in the English School Program in Manitoba and it can be divided into three components:
The purpose of this course is to encourage the learning of French as a means of communication and to make it a part of the student’s overall education. The curriculum is designed to expose the child

to the French language and culture, and the goals of the course are to give students the opportunity to:

  • acquire the necessary language skills to communicate in French;
  • value the learning of French as a tool for personal, intellectual, and social growth;
  • demonstrate an appreciation of Francophone cultures;
  • further develop intercultural communication skills that are essential to all global citizens.
